Balsamic vinegar1 teaspoon
Chopped fresh parsley1 teaspoon

Instructions

Peel and thinly slice the shallots.

Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Add the sliced shallots and a pinch of salt.

Let the shallots soften and caramelise for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

When the shallots are golden and sweet, add the black pepper and balsamic vinegar.

Stir well and finish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Serve hot as a side dish, on toasted bread, with cheese, or as a snack.
