Place 10-12 fresh mint leaves, ½ lime cut into 3-4 wedges, and 2 teaspoons granulated sugar in a sturdy highball glass.

Gently muddle the mint, lime, and sugar with a muddler or spoon for about 5–7 presses, releasing mint oils and lime juice without shredding the mint.

Pour in 2 fluid ounces white rum and stir briefly to help dissolve the sugar.

Fill the glass nearly to the top with ice.

Top off with 5 fluid ounces club soda and give a gentle stir to combine without losing fizz.
