Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 0.5 teaspoon salt.
In a large bowl, whisk together 0.5 cup melted unsalted butter, 0.5 cup granulated sugar, and 0.25 cup packed light brown sugar until smooth.
Add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and whisk until creamy.
Stir in 3 medium bananas (mashed) until just combined, leaving small lumps.
Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir gently until just combined, with a few streaks of flour remaining.
Fold in 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving some for sprinkling on top.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs and the top is golden brown.
Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
