Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 23x33 cm baking tray with baking parchment or lightly grease it.
In a medium bowl, mix together the melted unsalted butter, plain flour, caster sugar, and salt until a crumbly dough forms.
Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared tray to form the crust.
Bake the crust for about 18-20 minutes, or until just golden around the edges.
While the crust bakes, whisk together the light brown sugar, light corn syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth.
Pour the filling mixture over the hot crust, then sprinkle the pecan halves evenly on top.
Return the tray to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and only slightly jiggles in the centre.
Remove from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the tray before slicing into squares.
Serve and enjoy your gooey, nutty pecan pie bars!
