Crack the eggs into a shallow dish, add the full-fat milk and pinch of salt, then whisk until frothy and combined.
Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and melt half the butter, ensuring it sizzles but does not burn.
Quickly dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides lightly, then place it into the hot pan.
Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and puffed, then transfer to a plate.
Add the remaining butter to the pan and repeat dipping and cooking with the remaining bread slices.
Serve immediately with optional toppings such as bacon and baked beans, ketchup, caster sugar, maple syrup or jam.
