Dark chocolate200 g

Melt the dark chocolate with the butter in a bain-marie and let it cool slightly.

In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is light and frothy.

Add the melted chocolate to the egg and sugar mixture and mix well.

Sift the plain flour with the baking powder and add them to the batter along with a pinch of salt. Gently mix until you have a smooth batter.

Pour the batter into a buttered cake tin.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan 160°C) for about 30 minutes.

Let the cake cool, then dust with icing sugar if desired.

Serve the chocolate cake with a hot coffee.
